Ohiya Place of Sri Lanka

Ohiya village is one of highest village of Badulla district Sri Lanka which is situated at Welimada electorate. Ohiya village is coolest village of Badulla district and which is high about 1774m above sea level. Ohiya village famous for railway and this village situated on the way of Horton plains. Normal temperature of Ohiya is less than 12 Celsius.

There is a apecial on the way to Ohiya place called Rahangala Mountain. Pass the Rahangala mountain when you should travel through eucalyptus mountain and you come nice place Ohiya. Ohiya  railway station is between Pattipola station and Idalgashina station. Five years before there is a short cut to travel Horton plains from Ohiya although to Protect the nature short cut was closed and travels to Horton plains via Ohiya shortcul is prohibited. In now we should travel it via normal way. There is 5-6km to Horton plains from Ohiya. 10.5 Km to main entrance point and museum of Horton Plains.

When you travel to Horton plains from Ohiya after 3 km you meet another way to left side. It can be accessed to Bambarakanda waterfall from this way via Udaweria estate and one of beautiful places called HILL SAFARI. Hill Safari is tour place at closed to Walhaputhanna and Ohiya. Pass the Udaweria junction meets tiny Worlds end. It's not higher than main World's End and Small Warlds End. Several peaks, beautiful scenes, observation points, rest place and high gaps are available in Ohiya Horton plains road.

In Ohiya to Idalgashinna railway there are 13 railway tunnel to through. It's highest tunnels which has between nearest two railway stations. In Ohiya to Pattipola road there are 4 rail way tunnels and 1deep and nice railway bridge. One of tunnel is tunnel 18 of Pattipola which is 3rd Longest and dark tunnel. Ohiya railway bridge is also fantastic once. High pure and coolest water of Sri Lanka can be founded in there.
